About the project

Amey Daldy Park is a new neighbourhood pocket park that provides an intimate outdoor space for residents and workers of Wynyard Quarter to call their own.  This project is part of the plan to create open, accessible public spaces in Wynyard Quarter - making a lively, people-friendly waterfront neighbourhood.

Previously an industrial site for storage tanks, it is now a contemporary urban park included along the Daldy Street green connection between Victoria Park and Wynyard Point, that serves as a backyard for Wynyard Quarter’s residents and workers.  

It is named by the Waitematā Local Board after the suffragist Amey Daldy, who was a prominent voice of the suffrage movement in Auckland. She was a woman of radical views for her age and time, who campaigned fervently and fearlessly for women’s rights and for social justice. Amey left many legacies in her wake, and this park in her namesake is now one of them.

What’s involved

Amey Daldy Park was designed by LandLAB and delivered by Auckland Transport. Watercare installed the pump station and Eke Panuku are the asset owner on behalf of Auckland Council.

The specially designed wastewater pump station stores 400,000 litres of wastewater, and ensures that the wastewater system in Wynyard Quarter can keep up with the demand and future growth of the area.

Not your regular pumpstation, this 10.5-metre high structure has curved walls to reflect the nearby silos that are iconic to the precinct, and also doubles as public toilet facilities.
