About the project
The New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) will deliver Auckland an accessible, inviting and dynamic location for events.
The NZICC will become the heart of a vibrant city precinct with world-class dining and entertainment. With a transparent, open design featuring high ceilings, panoramic views and flexible, dynamic spaces; the building and façade are designed with an unique New Zealand identity.
It will cover a floor space of 32,500sqm which is five times larger than the current largest convention facilities in New Zealand.
It will include a theatre, exhibition spaces, halls and meeting rooms, configurable for up to 33 meeting spaces at any one time. There will be additional pre-function spaces in the adjacent lane-way with exciting retail and food and beverage options on offer.
The NZICC will be capable of hosting conferences of around 3,150 people and one-off events of around 4,000 people.
The completed building will be four levels, and will cover an area between Hobson Street and Nelson Street.
It will include an air-bridge that will connect the NZICC with the SkyCity Hotel.
The NZICC is currently under construction.
It is due to be completed late 2020 with an opening in first quarter 2021.
