About the project
Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities is redeveloping their site at 139 Greys Avenue in central Auckland. Once the new building is finished, Kāinga Ora will be housing more people in a supportive housing environment which will help promote improved wellbeing outcomes for their customers and the local community.
What’s involved
The Greys Avenue development will be a welcoming, connected and supportive environment that promotes greater health and wellbeing. There will be a community hub on the ground level along with 24/7 support services and concierge service within the building. The building will be a safe and welcoming place to live, work and visit.
There is over 2000 sqm of indoor communal space for community making and engagement. It will feature a number of spaces including a shared kitchen, dining hall, recreation space and rooms for the provision of health services on site. Informal gathering spaces on each floor have been designed to help create a sense of home and community.
There will be an increase in scale and social diversity by creating 276 apartments with at least 200 retained as state homes. Up to 80 of those state apartments would be designed for customers who might require a higher level of on- site support once they move in such as people currently in the rough sleeping community. The building will have a focus on providing opportunities for customers to connect, learn and develop skills.
The ground floor will have a Kāinga Ora office and there will be around 1000 sqm of lettable commercial space.
Dates
Demolition began in 2019 and the estimated completion date for construction is late 2022
