About the project
When CRL opens in 2024, the Karangahape Road area will have a new architecturally-designed station making it easier and quicker for more people to travel to and from this vibrant uptown community.
Karanga-a-Hape Station is located in central Auckland in between Te Waihorotiu Station and Maungawhau Station. The underground station will be 33m deep and there are two aboveground entry points to the station at Mercury Lane and Beresford Square. Up to 1,400 people per hour are expected to disembark at Karanga-a-Hape Station during peak times.
This station is being built as part of the City Rail Link project – a 3.45km underground rail link between Britomart and the Western Line and Maungawhau Station, transforming Waitematā Station (Britomart) into a through-station from a dead-end stop.
