About the project
Wynyard Wharf was transformed to house the bases for the America's Cup syndicates that are racing in Auckland for the 36th America's Cup.
Initial work included strengthening repairs on the underside of Wynyard Wharf to ensure it could bear the weight of the construction equipment and the syndicate cranes used to launch and recover the racing boats.
The works required the construction of the platforms for the team bases, yard space, including infill bridges to provide a connection between Wynyard Point and Wynyard Wharf to facilitate access to the water space, and the floating infrastructure required to enable the teams to launch their boats.
WEA also installed full utilities, paving, fencing and lighting to the area. Construction work for the northern bases with confirmed syndicates was completed in January 2020 and handed over for construction and operation of the syndicate bases.
